Set a table that works
Give each person enough room for a plate, a glass and comfortable conversation. Keep shared dishes within easy reach, or serve from a side table when the dining table is small. Low decorations leave sightlines open.
Use the dishes and linens you already have. Repeating a color or material can make mixed pieces feel considered. Put serving utensils with their dishes before guests arrive, and keep a spare cloth nearby for spills.
